Watch the original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners in episode order, then Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 when it releases. That is our suggested introduction to Night City. Both productions describe their stories as standalone, so release order is a recommendation rather than a continuity requirement.

The number 2 distinguishes the new production. It does not, by itself, promise the next chapter of David’s story. Netflix describes a fresh group of mercenaries and a new cast. CD Projekt Red’s dedicated site likewise calls it a new story and identifies Kai Ikarashi as its director. These announcements establish the production’s premise; they do not establish returning-character appearances or resolve its relationship to every event in the original.
Is the first series required?
The official standalone description supports starting with either story. Our reason for recommending the original first is practical: it is already available to introduce the setting while the second awaits release. Someone choosing the new production first is following the announced premise, too. We have not viewed the unreleased episodes and cannot certify that every reference will make equal sense without the original.
When does Edgerunners 2 reach Netflix?
October 20, 2026 is the date published by both Netflix and CD Projekt Red. It is an announced release, checked October 6. The cited pages do not supply an exact streaming hour, a territory-by-territory playback check or a confirmed dub rollout. A trailer being available is not evidence that the episodes have released.
The anime calendar carries the premiere announcement and links back here. We will check the actual release on its date before changing this guide to say it is available. Until then, neither a whole-series review nor an explanation of the second story’s ending is supported.
Who makes Edgerunners 2, and who is in it
CD Projekt Red's Edgerunners 2 site names CD PROJEKT RED and TRIGGER as the makers and calls it a "ten-episode standalone series." It credits director Kai Ikarashi, lead character designer Kanno Ichigo (the site's name order), and writers Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka, the pair it describes as the creative minds behind the original's story.
