Madoka Magica Manga Buying Guide

The original Madoka manga has two checked English print routes: three paperback singles or Yen Press’s Complete Omnibus. Choose by the named story and format before comparing prices. “Complete” on this book means the original adaptation, not every manga carrying the Madoka name.

Original story: three books or one

Print book	Checked edition
Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Complete Omnibus Edition	ISBN 9781975316273; published 2020-08-18; 472 pages; $24.00 US list

The three singles cost $39 at publisher list; the omnibus costs $24, a difference of $15. That is a comparison of listed print routes, not a retailer discount or stock check. The singles are listed at 5 × 7½ inches; the omnibus is 5¾ × 8¼ inches. Larger trim establishes more page area. It does not establish thicker paper, stronger binding or a particular reproduction quality.

If there are already one or two original singles on the shelf, the missing singles preserve that format. Starting from nothing makes the omnibus the lower list-price route. Owning the original singles already means the omnibus repeats the named story; it is not a sequel.

What the title does not include

Rebellion adapts a separate film and has its own Complete Omnibus. The Different Story, Oriko Magica, Suzune Magica and Magia Record are separate publisher series rather than extra numbered volumes in the original three-book run. A franchise name alone is insufficient when buying a continuation.

The publisher’s original-story index lists these three singles and the omnibus together. Its omnibus description promises the complete original story, but does not enumerate enclosed single-book ISBNs or establish matching color pages, translation details or extras. Those equivalences remain unchecked; no chapter switching table is inferred from page counts.

Use the Madoka manga catalog for the physical ISBN records and the omnibus buying link. For the story’s conclusion, the ending analysis discusses the anime with spoilers. This buying guide does not claim an exact anime episode-to-manga chapter boundary.

Buying the Rebellion continuation

Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Movie -Rebellion-: The Complete Omnibus Edition is a different book from the original Complete Omnibus. The publisher’s physical listing identifies ISBN 9781975360252, published August 22, 2023: a 448-page paperback at $24 US list, with 5¾ × 8¼ inch trim.

Read or watch the original story before Rebellion. The publisher’s premise begins after the original story’s concluding change; the buying note avoids naming that change. This is a film adaptation, not original manga Volume 4. The two $24 omnibus books total $48 at publisher list and cover two named adaptations. That is not a complete-franchise price.

The current Rebellion publisher index lists this omnibus. Historical singles are not independently inventoried here, and the listing does not establish that their bonus pages, wording or chapter layout exactly match this book. Use the Rebellion omnibus record to check the exact physical purchase.
