The Ancient Magus’ Bride’s twentieth book carries the Sargant crisis into its aftermath. The attraction is the prospect of time at home for Chise and Elias, with the price of dragon power still part of the premise. This is not the reason to buy the run as a standalone attraction: a pause means more after following the crisis that made it necessary. Read it with the preceding confrontation, rather than as a fresh household adventure.

Philomela uses the thurisaz rune Chise gave her as the Sargant catastrophe closes. The return home that follows is explicitly brief, with the consequences of Chise wielding dragon power still pending and the Hunt approaching. That is a qualified form of relief. The cottage can give the characters somewhere to recover without returning them to the condition in which they left it. The pause matters because it separates surviving a crisis from being finished with its costs. A reader seeking an uncomplicated resting place would be asking this homecoming to do more than its premise promises.
