Black Clover 11 opens amid the fighting in the Forest of Witches, as Fanzell faces former pupils from the Diamond Kingdom. Chapters 91–100 continue a situation already in progress. The opening sets a teacher's importance beside a soldier's stated permission to kill him, giving the battle a personal conflict before its tactics take over. This reading covers the licensed encounter through the attack approaching Asta; victory, survival and later changes remain outside its bounds.

Mars argues against needless killing; Ladros responds that sparing defectors would betray their kingdom. When Mars accepts that charge, Ladros celebrates the chance to kill him legally. His permission supplies cover for an old resentment toward the pupil who once excelled and the teacher who taught them both. Fanzell's apprentice Mariella asks that he not be killed as a bonus, making the cost of that enthusiasm explicit. Mars reassures his teacher and proposes a countermeasure to Ladros, while Fanzell recognizes that the former pupil he thought had lost his memory is protecting him. The recognition does not resolve the fight. Ladros's pursuit soon reaches Asta and the separate conflict around Salamander. The inspected opening turns an official accusation into an opportunity for private revenge, without certifying its legality outside Ladros's own claim.
