- Season 1: Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc ep. 1–26
The series gets loud in this book, and it never quite goes back. Chapters 17 to 25 open inside the fight that ended Vol. 2, with two of Muzan's assassins at Tamayo's door, and then hand Tanjiro his two traveling companions by chapter title: 'Zenitsu Agatsuma' is chapter 20 and 'Rushing Boar' is chapter 22. Up to here the manga is a solitary thing: a boy, his sister and a case. From here it is an ensemble with a comic register it did not have before, and it is a different series afterward, not only a better one. Season 1 covers the whole volume, and episode 12 takes chapter 23's title whole, 'The Boar Bares Its Fangs, Zenitsu Sleeps', so a viewer still starts at Vol. 7. The three-person unit formed in these chapters is the one that boards the train there.

The assassins claim to be Twelve Kizuki and are not. Tanjiro beheads Yahaba; Tamayo tricks Susamaru into saying Muzan's name, the curse destroys her, and her remains carry no rank in the eyes, which is how the book teaches the rule every later villain is read by. Tamayo leaves Asakusa. The Tsuzumi Mansion follows: Kyogai, a former Kizuki, hunting people with a rare blood type from an abandoned house, and Tanjiro's first delivery on the Vol. 2 bargain, a blood sample for Tamayo. Zenitsu arrives as a coward and Inosuke as a boy in a boar's head who fights with chipped blades. The volume ends with Inosuke injuring Zenitsu, who is shielding Nezuko, and Tanjiro squaring up to him; the fistfight is the first chapter of Vol. 4. The turn is structural. Both newcomers are introduced as jokes, and the series spends twenty volumes paying the jokes off. This site's lines from them come from the far end of that, including Inosuke in chapter 160, facing the demon who killed his mother, and Zenitsu on the master who hit him too often and never gave up on him.
