- Season 1: Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc ep. 1–26
Hardly anyone fights in this book, and it is the last time that is true for a long while. Chapters 44 to 52 pick up on Mt. Natagumo with a Hashira hunting Nezuko, move to a hearing before the Corps' leader and his Hashira, and then settle into weeks of recovery and rehabilitation training at the Butterfly Mansion. It is the run's first breather and an honest one: a trial, a hospital and a training regime, with chapter titles to match, 'Rehabilitation Training' parts 1 and 2. It closes season 1 as well. Three of the season's last six episodes take their titles from these chapters, and the season stops two chapters into Vol. 7, so this is the last book a season 1 viewer can skip whole. Nobody buys the run for Vol. 6. It is where the Hashira arrive, and from Vol. 16 the series belongs to them.

The hearing first. Kagaya Ubuyashiki spares Nezuko on the word of Giyu and Urokodaki, who have pledged to commit seppuku if she ever eats a human. The Wind Hashira, Sanemi Shinazugawa, stabs her repeatedly to provoke her, and gives way only when she refuses to attack him. The second thread is rehabilitation at Shinobu's Butterfly Mansion, where Tanjiro learns new breathing techniques and starts asking what the Hinokami Kagura he used on Rui is. Kanao Tsuyuri, who completed the Final Selection alongside him, is there as Shinobu's ward. The third thread is the one to read twice. Muzan has Nakime summon the Lower Kizuki to the Infinity Castle, judges them unnecessary, and kills all but one, Enmu, who receives more blood and an order to kill the Hashira and Tanjiro. It is the villain introduced as a manager conducting a layoff, and the first sight of the castle that swallows the cast in Vol. 16. The book ends with the assignment to the Mugen Train. This site's Shinobu line, on a hatred she cannot fight, is sourced to episode 24, 'Rehabilitation Training', which is named for these chapters.
