The publisher sets Asirpa on the road with Kiroranke while identifying his betrayal, and places the wounded Sugimoto in a bargain with Tsurumi. Read this as the transition out of the prison operation into a pursuit structured by unequal information. Beginning here would replace those competing loyalties with a list of people heading north.
