Part 4: Diamond Is Unbreakable — hardcover 1
Diamond Is Unbreakable hardcover 1 begins with Koichi trying to understand two imposing strangers in Morioh. Jotaro's appearance conceals an unexpectedly considerate exchange; Josuke initially apologizes to bullies while asking them to leave a frightened turtle alone. An insult to Josuke's hair changes that encounter. The inspected opening moves from color to monochrome and ends during his retaliation, so this analysis makes no claim about how the incident is resolved or how the whole hardcover is printed.

Koichi keeps revising his first impressions. Jotaro looks threatening, yet thanks him for directions and listens carefully. Josuke appears reluctant to resist boys demanding his clothes and money, but still asks them to protect a turtle from harm. Koichi notices that Josuke seems more concerned about the animal than his own mistreatment. That observation matters without making Josuke uniformly placid. When a bully insults his hair, his manner changes and a powerful figure appears beside him. Jotaro recognizes a Stand; Koichi witnesses the sudden attack without possessing that explanation himself. The sequence separates what someone looks like, what an observer thinks and what the next action reveals. Josuke's concern for a vulnerable creature and his violent reaction occupy the same introduction. The opening gives grounds to revise an impression repeatedly, rather than replacing one quick judgment with an equally complete claim about his character.
