Knights of Sidonia Volume 8 makes room for the problem of where its characters will live. Tanikaze searches for a place for himself and his friends while the ship’s command remains in focus. If your interest begins and ends with combat, this domestic premise is not the reason to buy the run. For readers following the ship as a home, it offers a smaller and more concrete reason to continue.

The housing search is unusually specific: Tanikaze wants old ducts in the property. Alongside that private concern, Kobayashi asserts sole command and puts on ancient armor. The contrast gives this installment its buying argument. The same vessel can be an object of centralized control and a place where friends need suitable living space. Calling the domestic thread a breather does not mean the whole book is safe or uneventful. It means there is a reason to read it that does not depend on another enemy attack. The people being protected also need somewhere to conduct their lives.
