- Season 6: 師の予言と復讐の章 (Master's Prophecy and Vengeance) ep. 113–143
Two fights share this book: one carries in from the previous volume and one carries out into the next. Chapters 380 to 389 close the Jiraiya and Pain fight that ran through the previous volume, then open the meeting between Sasuke and Itachi that the run has been arranging for three books. Neither half is self-contained, which makes this the clearest case in the range for buying collected rather than single. Shippuden season 6 covers chapters 343 to 411, so the anime is through all of it. One oddity to know before ordering the 3-in-1 edition: Viz does not print the contents of any book in that line after the sixth, and by our arithmetic this volume falls in book 14, the one Viz lists at 368 pages where the rest of the line runs 576 to 608. This volume is 192 pages at $11.99.

Jiraiya dies, and the series makes the death a delivery system. He takes one of the six bodies, cannot beat the remaining five, ships the captured body back to Tsunade, goes after the secret behind Pain anyway, sends what he finds to Konoha and does not survive his injuries. Most of what Konoha has on Pain for the next six volumes comes out of that transmission, and it is what Naruto uses to locate Nagato in Vol. 48. The other half of the book is the board being cleared: Kisame holds Sasuke's team, Tobi stalls Naruto's group, and the Uchiha fight begins with nobody able to interrupt it. Sasuke pushes Itachi using years of accumulated hatred, which is the framing the next volume spends eight chapters dismantling.
