Sakamoto Days brings Sakamoto to Shin’s aid as the conflict with the New JAA continues. The rescue belongs to a larger attack, with family and comrades still needing protection while the organization’s assassins remain active. Read it with the surrounding conflict for that divided responsibility: reaching one person in danger does not make everyone else safe. Sakamoto’s arrival changes who can intervene, rather than removing the need for intervention.

This is not the reason to buy the run for a self-contained rescue: the New JAA attacks continue into Vol. 26. Extreme trauma disrupts Sakamoto’s movement while the New JAA keeps attacking. That limitation changes the usefulness of his reputation: past ability cannot guarantee that his body will obey at the necessary moment. Leaving protection duties with Shin is consequently more than a convenient way to divide the cast. It places other people’s safety with a protege while the mentor faces a problem he cannot solve merely by intending to perform better. The continued attacks on the staff in Vol. 26 make that distribution of responsibility especially relevant. Survival depends on more than the celebrated assassin’s individual performance.
