“I can hear you. You might want to think without speaking next time.”
Jaden announces that he needs to deactivate Light Barrier while telling himself to think. Sartorius answers the planning speech as ordinary speech. The interruption removes a privilege an audience can easily grant a protagonist: that an explanation of the next problem somehow happens outside the opponent's hearing. Nothing elaborate is needed to break that convention. One character simply listens. The joke also changes the balance of the encounter for a moment. Jaden is trying to regain control by naming his task; Sartorius makes the attempt itself look careless. That is a more precise humiliation than another claim to superior power would be. It does not prove that Jaden lacks a plan or cannot win. It shows that even the work of forming a plan can become material for the person he is trying to defeat.
