“Thank you, Captain. Rest in peace. But not yet... Not yet!”
2 quotes from Hellsing Ultimate, each with commentary on what it means and why it stuck.
“Thank you, Captain. Rest in peace. But not yet... Not yet!”
“If they wanted it so damn badly, then they should have staked themselves, or jumped into a fire, or maybe not become vampires at all!”
An SS officer has just asked Seras to kill him, and Integra has identified the soldiers' smiles as satisfaction at dying. Seras's retort is satisfying abuse but a weak answer to that spectacle. It treats their wish as a practical problem they could have solved privately. The Major's reply makes the missing distinction explicit: they demand a grand battle. Her impatience is justified; her explanation of the enemy is too small.
Pip is already a corpse when Seras addresses him, and she has become a full vampire. That makes the interrupted farewell more troubling than a refusal to give up. Gratitude ought to release the person who helped her; instead, she postpones the release. The hesitation earns its place because it leaves those two impulses together. Affection does not make her ready to let him rest.
