“And neither will you. The only reason you're still here is because you wanted to see the activation of the taboo magic.”
Momo warns Kaito that going back in time so far is insane, even for him. He responds by identifying her interest in seeing the taboo magic activated. She accepts that it is part of her motive, while insisting that another reason also exists. The accusation has a real basis, then, and dismissing it as nothing but evasion would let Momo occupy an innocence she does not claim for herself. Shared investment can make criticism less detached than it sounds. But Kaito has answered a question about continuing a dangerous action with a question about why the critic remains nearby. Her interest in the result does not establish that the method is safe or that he must continue. The exchange leaves both objections alive: Momo is implicated in what she wants to witness, and Kaito still owes an answer about what he is doing. Exposing a motive is not the same as defeating an argument.
