Yusuke and Ichigo begin helping before an official role can explain them. Their openings separate the reason to protect from the authority to assign duties.

Yusuke and Ichigo enter supernatural work through emergencies that an official title does not cause. VIZ’s YuYu Hakusho synopsis places Yusuke’s rescue before his afterlife assignments; its Bleach introduction makes protecting Ichigo’s family the reason for Rukia’s initial transfer of power. In both openings, a person’s danger precedes a job description.
The order matters
An institution may train, coordinate and hold a protector accountable. It cannot claim to have invented every reason that person has for acting. These premises distinguish a duty recognized through another person’s vulnerability from a duty accepted through appointment. The two can overlap without becoming identical.
This reading does not require the characters to have a settled philosophy before the emergency. Immediate concern may be incomplete, partial or difficult to explain. Its significance is that action can begin before the actor has negotiated every future obligation. A rescue need not wait for a perfect theory of the rescuer’s place in the world.
Personal concern has a limit
The weakness of personal motivation is also clear. Someone who helps because the endangered person matters to them has not yet explained what happens to strangers. Institutions can address that gap by assigning responsibility more consistently than affection does. The opening of an individual commitment is therefore not enough to prove that organized duty is unnecessary.
Nor does resisting control automatically make a protector right. Independence can preserve judgment, but it can also conceal favoritism or make cooperation unreliable. A comparison based only on their outsider appeal would leave the people depending on protection with little assurance. The ethical test has to include the distribution of help as well as the freedom of the helper.
An appointment can organize a prior obligation
The stronger account treats the role as a way to make an existing capacity answerable. It can establish who should act, what preparation is required and how failures are examined. What it cannot do is make obedience the only measure of whether an action serves the people the role exists to protect.
That distinction avoids turning either opening into a claim that every later conflict with authority is justified. These publisher descriptions establish the entry into the work, not a complete record of institutional misconduct or principled rebellion. They support a question that later scenes would have to answer individually: does following an order fulfill the protective purpose, or merely display allegiance?
Yusuke and Ichigo can be compared without treating their relationships, powers or organizations as interchangeable. The shared feature is the sequence in which need and office appear. Responsibility begins as a response to someone at risk. A formal role may extend that response, but its authority remains open to judgment by the protection it actually provides.
