Attack on Titan Watch Order

Watch the four seasons in order and ignore everything else on a first pass. That is the whole answer for a newcomer, and the rest of this page exists because Attack on Titan's release history buried a simple series under a confusing pile of parts, specials, OADs and a compilation film.

The finale: two specials, seven episodes or one film?

The Final Season began with Part 1 and Part 2, then concluded with two longer specials titled THE FINAL CHAPTERS. After Part 2, choose one presentation of those concluding chapters. A longer episode list does not necessarily mean there is more story left to watch.

The official episode-version announcement explains the numbering: the two concluding specials are divided into episodes 88–94. It also warns that distributors may use either the episodic version or the two specials. That is why an episode count copied from one catalog can look incompatible with another. Follow the version your listing identifies; do not watch both specials and then assume episodes 88–94 are a continuation.

THE LAST ATTACK's production announcement describes a reconstruction of the two specials with revised cuts and a cinema sound mix. The official post-credits announcement also confirms new footage after the credits. The film therefore offers something extra to a returning viewer, while occupying the same place in the viewing order. It is not a recap of all four seasons and should not be used as a shortcut through them.

For a straightforward first watch, we recommend the two specials. If your edition supplies seven episodes instead, finish those seven. Choose the film if you prefer one continuous sitting, and stay through its credits. You can return to another presentation later without treating it as another season to catch up on.

Optional side episodes

Save the OAD side episodes for after the main series if you want the simplest first watch. Our optional picks are No Regrets and Ilse's Notebook. Treat them as return visits once you know the main cast, rather than interruptions you must fit into an exact episode-by-episode schedule.

Keep the main sequence intact

For a first watch, we recommend following the main television sequence without skipping arcs. The useful shortcut here is choosing one presentation of the concluding chapters, not removing earlier sections of the story.

Sub or dub

Choose the audio you prefer. If you are looking for a particular line, check the version and source attached to it rather than assuming every English script uses the same wording. Our quote pages identify their recorded sources; a viewing-order guide does not establish which script a remembered clip used.
