Did Momo Say “A Bright Future Starts With Belief”?

No. The line "A bright future starts with the belief that you can create one" appears nowhere in My Hero Academia: not in the manga, not in the anime, not in any interview or databook. Momo Yaoyorozu never says it.

Fabricated — and this one is personal, because this site published it. The line arrived here from quote aggregators during early drafting, survived until our first full verification pass in August 2026, and was deleted when no source could be found in any episode or chapter. This page is the correction, made public.

The tell, in hindsight

Read the sentence again. It is smooth, universal, and could be printed over a sunrise without anyone asking which character said it or when. Real dialogue is specific and usually a little awkward: it interrupts, it references the scene it lives in, it sounds like a person. Momo's actual dialogue is anxious, precise and status-conscious in ways that made her arc about self-doubt land. The fabricated line has no fingerprints on it at all, which is the signature of motivational-poster fabrication: it works for any character because it belongs to none.

Where lines like this come from

Quote aggregator sites reward volume, not accuracy. When a popular character has three famous lines and a listicle needs ten, the gap gets filled with paraphrase, with lines lifted from other characters, and with outright invention in the character's approximate voice. Other sites then scrape the listicle, and after two or three generations of copying, the invented line has a dozen "sources", all of them descended from one content farm. Repetition does the work citation should have done.

What Momo actually says

Her real dialogue is better than the fake, because it is attached to something. The character the fandom loves is the recommended student who froze in her first real fight, concluded her admission had been a mistake, and had to be argued back into her own competence by a teacher mid-battle. Lines from that arc are searchable with their episodes attached. This site currently quotes none of them, because none we tested cleared our sourcing bar, and an empty page is the price of the standard: the same process that caught this fabrication also removed our weaker real material.
