Season 1

The anime premiered on Tokyo MX on January 12, 2020, and in Japan Netflix streamed it before the TV broadcast, according to ANN's January 2020 report. ANN's episode list dates episode 12 to March 29, 2020. Viewers outside Japan got it later: Netflix began streaming it on May 28, 2020.

The Ma no Omake shorts

The same January 2020 report says the anime has "12 television episodes plus six new 'Ma no Omake' (Magic Bonus) original video anime episodes," with "a total runtime of about 30 minutes," included in the second Japanese Blu-ray box set on June 17, 2020. They are bonus material, not story you need between seasons. We have not found an English release of them reported by ANN or a licensor.

Season 2

The official site announced a sequel "as a streaming series" in January 2024, and it slipped from a planned 2025 debut. ANN reported that it would premiere on April 1, 2026, at 11:00 p.m. JST "on various platforms 'almost simultaneously worldwide,'" with Hayashi directing at MAPPA again. ANN's May 27, 2026 report says "the final episode of the second season aired on Wednesday." ANN's encyclopedia entry lists 11 episodes, and ANN's episode 11 review treats that episode as the season finale. Crunchyroll streams both seasons, season 2 with an English dub, and ANN says Netflix also streams the anime.

Season 3

The same May 2026 report announced a third season, and a teaser video followed at MAPPA's 15th-anniversary event in June. Neither gives a premiere date, and this guide will not guess one.
