The episode counts come from Anime News Network's encyclopedia entries for season 1, season 2, season 3 and the two halves of To the Top (part 1, part 2). Broadcaster MBS's fan-vote archives list ten episodes for season 3 and twenty-five for To the Top. ANN's November 2025 report says the first season's "25th and final episode" aired in September 2014.

Season 4 is one season in two parts

To the Top is the fourth season, not a fourth and fifth. ANN's August 2022 report says the first half premiered in January 2020 and that episode 13 aired in April. The second half, "consisting of episodes 14 to 25," was planned for July 2020 but delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and premiered in October 2020. A service that lists the two halves separately has not added a season; the numbering simply carries on from 14.

The recap films can be skipped

Four theatrical films condense the first three seasons. ANN's encyclopedia classifies each as a compilation:

  • Haikyu!! the Movie 1: The End and the Beginning (July 3, 2015) and Haikyu!! the Movie 2: The Winner and the Loser (September 18, 2015) compile season 1; ANN's 2025 report calls them the first season's "two compilation films."
  • Haikyu!! Sainō to Sense (才能とセンス, September 15, 2017) compiles season 2. The title pairs the words for talent and sense, a pairing that also turns up in a line fans attribute to Oikawa.
  • Haikyu!! The Movie: Battle of Concepts (September 29, 2017) compiles season 3. MBS's archive gives season 3's tenth and last episode the same title, コンセプトの戦い.

Someone who has watched the series gains nothing new in plot from these; they are for revisiting, or for catching up quickly before a new release.

Specials and OVAs

None of these is required. ANN's encyclopedia records how each attaches to the series:

  • LAND VS. AIR (two episodes). ANN dates its screening to Jump Festa 2020 on December 21, 2019, and links it as a sequel to season 3 and the entry before To the Top. If you want everything, this is the one with a place in the running order: between season 3 and season 4.
  • Lev Kenzan!, a 2014 Jump Festa event special that ANN lists as a side story of season 1. Its summary has Kenma helping Nekoma's Lev with practice.
  • VS Akaten, a 2015 special that ANN lists as a side story of season 2: Hinata and Kageyama fail a test, and the make-up exam clashes with their training camp.
  • Special Feature! The Spring Tournament of Their Youth, dated August 4, 2017, which ANN lists as a side story of season 3.

Watching each after the season ANN attaches it to is our suggestion, not an official order.

The Final films

Instead of a fifth television season, the story continues in two films. ANN reported in August 2022 that the manga was "inspiring two Haikyu!! Final sequel films." The first, HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle, opened in Japan on February 16, 2024, written and directed by Susumu Mitsunaka at Production I.G. ANN says it depicts the "fated showdown" between Karasuno High and Nekoma High, and that it screened in North American theaters on May 31, 2024 "in Japanese with English subtitles and with an English dub."

The second film, Gekijōban Haikyū!! VS Chiisana Kyojin (Haikyu!! Vs. The Little Giant), was green-lit in March 2025. A December 2025 livestream set its Japanese opening for 2027 and announced that it will play with "Haikyū!! Bakemono-tachi no Iku Tokoro" (Where Monsters Go), a short special about the match between Fukurōdani Academy and Mujinazaka High School. That special was first described as a television short; ANN notes the change. The August 2026 teaser report still says only "next year." None of these reports gives a day or a North American date, so we do not either.

Continuing in the manga

Season 4 ends inside Vol. 33: VIZ's synopsis for that volume describes the final points between Karasuno and Inarizaki, the match To the Top closes on. Readers who have seen The Dumpster Battle can look at Vol. 37, whose synopsis says the Nekoma and Karasuno match "must come to an end." The Haikyu!! catalog lists every English volume with its ISBN and date.

Where to watch in English

ANN reports that Crunchyroll began streaming English dubs of the first two seasons in November 2025. Streaming arrangements change, so check the service before you subscribe for it. For the characters these seasons follow, start with Hinata and Kageyama.
