Berserk Volume 3 continues Guts's confrontation with the Count after the assault on his castle. The immediate opponent is already established, so begin with the previous paperbacks rather than treating this as a separate monster hunt. It is also the final standard volume collected in Deluxe 1. That larger binding boundary identifies a collection, not a promise that Guts's troubles end here.

A defeated opponent need not end a conflict if defeat is itself a means of calling for help. PRH's synopsis says the Count's dying appeal activates the Behelit and summons five demon lords. The useful change is therefore jurisdiction: Guts can win an exchange of physical violence and still find himself subject to another authority. This is a specific reason the book matters beyond increasing the size of the enemy. It challenges the assumption that an enemy's remaining strength measures the danger still available to him.
