Anniversary Vol. 2
Chobits 20th Anniversary Edition 2 follows Hideki’s efforts to teach Chi while he is still learning about persocoms himself. Continue from the first Anniversary hardcover rather than matching this number to a book from an older English edition. Kodansha’s description makes the teacher’s limited knowledge part of the situation. The spoiler note examines how contact with other human-persocom relationships complicates that position, without claiming to have inspected the conversations or their outcomes.

Hideki can take responsibility for teaching Chi without possessing a settled understanding of what she is. The publisher describes his limited knowledge alongside his efforts to teach her, then places him among other human-persocom relationships that challenge his assumptions. That makes education run in two directions. He offers Chi instruction while other people’s attachments give him reasons to reconsider the distinction between a person and a machine. This does not establish that his lessons determine her feelings, or that every relationship he encounters is healthy. The description names neither the individual lessons nor their results. Its useful change is in the teacher’s position: caring for someone does not remove the need to learn what the relationship asks of him.

Anniversary Vol. 4
Chobits 20th Anniversary Edition 4 is the final hardcover in Kodansha’s four-book sequence. Readers following this edition reach its conclusion here; its number does not establish a continuation point from an older English printing. The spoiler note considers the publisher’s final-volume conflict between Hideki’s attachment to Chi and responsibilities extending beyond their relationship. It leaves the answer and the ending’s events undisclosed, and makes no claim about which original volumes this binding collects.
Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.
The publisher places Hideki’s feelings for Chi beside a danger those feelings cannot answer on their own. He learns that she possesses a power threatening all persocoms, while the question of their happiness together remains unresolved in the description. That pairing makes the final volume’s advertised problem wider than whether he recognizes her as more than technology. Other beings have a stake in what happens, even though his attachment gives him a personal reason to care. Reading the premise this way does not establish that love causes the threat, that Chi intends harm, or that happiness requires sacrificing anyone. None of those conclusions appears in the source. The distinction is between explaining why one relationship matters and deciding what is owed to everyone affected by it.
