Delicious in Dungeon volume 8 gives the party unfamiliar bodies to manage during an unfinished journey. Changeling mushrooms have transformed the adventurers from one race into another, altering their senses, strengths and stature. The buying appeal is a comic complication of the established group rather than a new place to start. It is not the reason to buy the run on its own; the joke needs characters whose ordinary capabilities already matter to you.

The transformation premise makes routine competence unreliable: the party must proceed with senses and physical capacities it has not learned to use. Yen Press pointedly exempts taste from the changes, which keeps the food concern recognizable while the bodies doing the eating have become unfamiliar. That is a useful reason to keep this installment in sequence, but a limited reason to choose it as a standalone purchase. The breather here is the body-changing comic premise, not a claim that the expedition becomes safe or that its central mission is resolved. The detour still has to be navigated.
