Delicious in Dungeon volume 9 brings Laios close to the dungeon’s bottom and the confrontation ahead. The approaching depths make knowledge of the dungeon increasingly consequential, with Sissel waiting ahead. Choose this continuation for the question of who understands the place, rather than as another isolated monster meal. It depends on the expedition already under way and introduces an encounter whose significance extends beyond surviving the next obstacle.

Laios meets the winged lion during a succubus-induced sleep, and the publisher identifies the lion as the source of Sissel’s power. That encounter adds a specific problem of trust: Laios understands that the lion is captive, while the Canaries may possess knowledge he lacks. A prisoner’s situation alone cannot establish everything a prospective rescuer needs to know. The appeal is the difference between encountering a source of power and understanding it. This is an introduction to the lion for Laios in the cited synopsis, not a claim about the character’s first appearance anywhere in the manga.
