Dragon Ball Super 22 follows Piccolo into the revived Red Ribbon Army's secret base to investigate its new project. The publisher presents an organization preparing another attempt at conquest, rather than a fresh tournament or an unrelated villain encounter. Continue here for that investigation and the forces behind the new androids. The spoiler note examines the recruitment story in VIZ's description; it does not claim to have inspected the manga's conversations or the later battle.

Hedo believes he has been recruited by the good side. In VIZ's account, the Red Ribbon Army persuades the scientist that Capsule Corp., Goku and their allies are the villains, making the construction of androids part of a supposed rescue mission. The useful distinction is between the purpose understood by the builder and the purpose of the people commissioning the work. Technical brilliance does not supply the missing knowledge about his employers. Calling him naive, as the synopsis does, is therefore only a partial explanation: the deception also requires someone to organize and deliver a false account. This is a reading of the publisher-described premise, not a claim about Hedo's later judgment or the exact dialogue through which the manga presents the lie.
