Dragon Ball Z’s seventh book begins with Kuririn asking the Great Elder for help. Its inspected contents list Z Tales 71 to 82, while the title identifies unified Dragon Ball book 23 of 42. This note reads only the licensed preview’s printed pages 7 to 17, including the elder’s examination of Kuririn and Gohan’s decision to seek a nearby Dragon Ball. It does not establish the later battles or the success of that retrieval. The Z spine number belongs to the English numbering split.

Kuririn arrives asking for a Dragon Ball, but the elder’s grief makes the exchange more than a transaction for a useful object. He has lost nearly all his children and knows that his own remaining life limits the time in which the wish can be used. Before handing the ball over, he examines Kuririn’s past and judges his intentions. He then awakens power Kuririn did not know he still possessed. Kuririn immediately asks whether helping Gohan in the same way would shorten the elder’s life. That question checks the cost of aid rather than accepting strength as free. The elder says he is releasing existing potential, not consuming his remaining years. His assistance rests on trust under urgency, while the subsequent radar reading gives Gohan only an apparent opportunity; the excerpt does not certify that the path is safe.
