Frieren's tenth book opens with Macht questioning an emotion he cannot recognize. The contents list chapters 88 to 97, beginning with “Solitär.” This note examines only the licensed opening, from the devastated settlement through Macht's conversation with Solitar about humans and demons. It does not establish what happens to Weise later in the book. The inspected VIZ standard preview supplies the wording discussed here; its opening is a poor substitute for beginning the series or the preceding encounter.

Solitar explains the resemblance between unrelated sea creatures before addressing the resemblance between demons and humans. Her argument treats a shared appearance and language as tools for predation, not evidence of shared feelings. That answer is forceful, but it is her account: Macht has just been shown testing whether slaughter produces the emotion he seeks, and the conversation does not settle his future inquiry. The chapter puts his question beside its human cost. Soldiers and villagers become material in a search for understanding that has not made him hesitate. Solitar can describe humans coherently without offering care for them; Macht can want to comprehend guilt without showing it. The opening makes articulate interest an inadequate test of sympathy. No later experiment or resolution is read here.
