Frieren Volume 9 begins with the party waiting beside a storm-bound lake. Its inspected contents list chapters 78 to 87. The opening makes weather and the cost of travel immediate obstacles, so the brief pause is part of the journey rather than a fresh starting point. Continue from the preceding standard book. This note examines the opening's enforced wait and ensuing errand; it does not describe the pace of every chapter or certify an anime handoff.

Waiting is the sensible choice until Frieren's purchases turn spare time into a shortage of money. The boatman proposes an exchange: retrieve a memoir attributed to Himmel from an abandoned monastery. A simple fare calculation becomes a dispute over what a book is worth and who should keep it. Frieren identifies the handwriting and describes ordinary records of their journey, while the boatman notices her sadness. He lets her retain the journal and looks to the other books for his payment. His generosity does not erase the transaction; it changes which object must satisfy it. This reading covers only printed pages 3 to 19 of the licensed VIZ preview. It does not establish the crossing's completion or the later Golden Land story.
