Frieren Volume 12 returns to the Party of Heroes through an encounter with the Goddess's monument. Its printed contents list chapters 108–117, and the opening depends on knowing Frieren's later companions as well as her earlier journey with Himmel, Heiter and Eisen. This is the standard English paperback, not a restarting point for a new reader. The spoiler analysis is limited to the licensed opening pages; the monument's ultimate explanation and the return journey remain outside that reading.

The reunion initially looks like a recovery of familiar routines. Heiter grumbles about detours, Himmel apologizes after accusing Frieren, and Eisen quietly watches. Frieren has another problem: she is trying to preserve a future that includes Fern and Stark while her companions treat her as the person they already know. Their inability to identify the change is funny until someone outside the party does. Zart names her meddling with space and time, turning the information she withholds from friends into knowledge an enemy appears to possess. Even flying becomes a chronological risk because people in this period do not know that magic. The opening makes experience a liability as well as an advantage: familiar faces do not mean familiar conditions, and additional skill can reveal the visitor who hoped to remain unnoticed.
