Standard Fullmetal Alchemist 2 contains chapters 5 to 8 and introduces Shou Tucker as a possible source of biological-alchemy research. The opening connects Edward’s search for bodily restoration to another state alchemist’s work. Continue from the first paperback; the brothers and their military relationship are already established. This single is also inside the first 3-in-1 collection. Fullmetal Edition 2 has different story boundaries, so the same spine number does not identify an equivalent purchase.

Mustang’s referral to Tucker makes certification look like a route to useful knowledge, but the opening already gives that knowledge a disturbing history. The chimera that earned Tucker his state qualification reportedly asked to die and then refused food. The brothers hear this before meeting him. Edward nevertheless needs biological research, while Mustang asks Tucker to keep Edward’s own attempted human transmutation quiet. The institution protects a useful alchemist’s reputation even as it sends him toward another researcher’s unexplained achievement. This is a reading of the opening’s tension between expertise and accountability, not a claim that the excerpt reveals Tucker’s later actions. The analysis uses only printed pages 7–16 of the English Volume 2 publisher preview on Google Books. It does not claim a full paperback reading or identical wording across editions.
