Hunter x Hunter 3 continues the Hunter Exam and contains chapters 18 to 26. The opening moves from Gon’s match to Kurapika’s confrontation with another prisoner; it assumes the group and test already established in earlier books. This standard paperback is also inside Omnibus 1, which collects singles 1–3. Buying Omnibus 3 to match this spine number would move far ahead. The analysis below stays with the opening confrontation rather than declaring the whole book a self-contained exam stage.

The prisoner works to make Kurapika accept a story about him before accepting a fight. Scars, a claimed murder count and a demand for a death match advertise danger. Kurapika agrees to the terms and puts away his weapons when the opponent objects; neither concession establishes that the opponent’s claims are true. Killua identifies the performance as a bluff. The spider tattoo then supplies a different kind of provocation, one tied to Kurapika’s history rather than demonstrated fighting ability. His immediate punch shows that the threat display has found an effective target even if its supposed credentials are hollow. This reading covers printed pages 7–17 of the licensed VIZ Volume 3 preview, within chapter 18. The limited excerpt does not establish the confrontation’s final result.
