Hunter x Hunter 4 opens with Gon watching a threat to his friends during the badge-stealing test. Its printed contents lists chapters 27–35. The analysis follows the opening negotiation rather than reviewing every remaining exam stage. In English print, Omnibus 2 contains standard volumes 4–6, including this book. A reader who owns that omnibus already owns this stretch of the story; standard Volume 4 is the corresponding single, not the second omnibus with a matching spine number.

Kurapika bargains with Hisoka without pretending that every badge is equally defensible. He offers the badge worth one point to them while refusing to surrender either his own or Leorio’s. That distinction gives his threat a limit: he protects their qualification while conceding something useful to the stronger applicant. Gon’s hidden reaction complicates a portrait of solitary courage. He realizes that waiting to take Hisoka’s badge would leave his friends exposed and starts looking for a way to help them instead. Hisoka accepts the offered badge and leaves the immediate confrontation, but the excerpt then shows him inspecting the surrendered badge and judging the pair as promising, unfinished opponents. A successful bargain has not made him harmless. This reading uses only printed pages 7–17 of VIZ’s licensed preview, within chapter 27. The later exam results are outside the pages read.
