Chapters 209 to 217, and the cruelest turn in the series. Two things happen in this book, one to a character introduced in Vol. 7 and one to a character introduced in Vol. 1, and between them they set the final confrontation. Beyond that this page stays quiet, because both are the reason to read the volume. Season 3 does not reach it and season 4 has no date. A reader arriving from Vol. 23 should have Vol. 25 ready: the aftermath is immediate and the series does not pause. Viz lists it at 192 pages and $11.99.

Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.

Tsumiki has been a coma patient and a motive since Vol. 7, and what walks into the colony wearing her is a reincarnated sorcerer named Yorozu who uses her points to add a rule and leaves. Megumi's reason for entering the game is retroactively deleted. Then Sukuna invokes a binding vow made in Vol. 2, which the reader was shown and told was refused, takes complete control of Yuji's body for one minute, and uses it to transfer himself into Megumi. The series has spent twenty-four volumes making Megumi the person Yuji would protect at any price and Sukuna the thing Yuji carries, and here it makes them the same body. It is the payoff of the bargain struck in Vol. 1, and it works because Akutami declined to use it for twenty-three volumes. Readers who dismiss the Culling Game as a detour should note where it deposits them.
