Chapters 200 to 208, and the volume where the Culling Game stops mattering and the endgame starts. Kenjaku gets what he entered the game to obtain, and two of the strongest sorcerers left try to stop him and do not. The book also does something the series has avoided for twenty-two volumes, which is to look outside Japan. Season 3 does not reach it. A reader should buy it with Vol. 24: what begins here concludes there, and the two books together are the pivot into the last six.

Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.

The reveal is that Kenjaku told the American government about cursed energy before Shibuya and offered the Culling Game as a harvesting opportunity, so the colonies now fill with foreign soldiers hunting sorcerers as an energy source. It is the one moment the series admits it is set in a country inside a world. Then Kenjaku walks into Jujutsu High for Tengen. Choso fights him and fails. Yuki Tsukumo fights him, forces him to show abilities he has kept hidden, and dies buying Choso time. Yuki has been in the series since Vol. 9 as the sorcerer whose philosophy Geto took to its conclusion, and she is killed by the man wearing his body.
