- Season 15: 忍界大戦・サスケとイタチ (Sasuke and Itachi) ep. 321–348
The arrangement between Naruto and the fox sealed inside him changes in this book, and it does not change back. Chapters 566 to 575 bring Kakashi and Might Guy into a fight the two hosts are losing: Tobi controls six tailed beasts through piercings driven into their bodies, and Naruto and Killer Bee cannot reach all of them. Chapter 570 is titled with a name the series has never used, and chapter 572 is 'Nine Names'. What those are worth belongs below, because it is what the island training was for. Season 15 adapts chapters 559 to 606 and takes in all of this book. Viz lists it at 192 pages and $11.99, and Box Set 3 states its contents as volumes 49 through 72, which Box Set 1 never does for its own.

The fox gets a name. Kurama has been a weapon, a hostage and a threat for more than 560 chapters, and in chapter 570 it becomes a party to an agreement, which is the same operation the series ran on Gaara in Part I and is now running on its own central threat. What triggers it is Naruto being swallowed by Son Goku, the Four-Tails, and choosing to pull the piercing out of a beast that is trying to kill him rather than fight it. Chapter 572, 'Nine Names', is the payoff: the beasts stop being numbered and start being named, and the story's position on them reverses inside a single chapter. Against that, the five Kage are losing to Madara and the book does not pretend otherwise. The last chapter has Sasuke learning that there is a war, which is the series reaching for him again after leaving him out since the summit.
