- Season 17: Team 7 Reunited 「忍界大戦・第七班再び」 ep. 362–372
The war stops being a set of separate duels in this book and becomes one battle with one target, and it does not go back. Chapters 608 to 617 bring the Ten-Tails onto the field and put the entire Allied Shinobi Forces in front of it at once. Almost everything from here to Vol. 70 is that single engagement. Shippuden season 17, episodes 362 to 372, covers chapters 607 to 630, so all of this volume is adapted, and a viewer stopping at episode 372 starts again at chapter 631, the fourth chapter of Vol. 66. The change of scale is paid for in the middle chapters, and the bill goes to the supporting cast rather than to anyone on the cover. It is a standard 192 pages at $11.99.

Neji dies in this volume, taking the attack meant for Naruto, and how the series handles it is the argument about the book. The death is converted almost at once into a speech by Hinata, and its narrative use is to restart Naruto rather than to close the Hyuga thread Part I opened. What follows is the largest thing Naruto has done: he hands Kurama's chakra to the whole army at once, which severs Obito and Madara's link to the Ten-Tails and makes one weapon out of a coalition that had been losing. That is the register change the volume exists for. The series has spent most of its length on who beats whom in single combat, and it has now written a fight that no single combatant can decide.
