Queen Beryl’s influence makes familiar allies dangerous in this standard Sailor Moon volume. The confrontation grows out of relationships already established, so this is a poor starting point despite the apparent simplicity of a battle for Earth. Read it as the continuation of Usagi’s search for the truth about herself. Readers buying toward a stopping point should allow for a book that carries the story across a major conflict boundary.
Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.
The publisher places a battle against Beryl’s forces and a fresh arrival in the same book. After the confrontation, a child calling herself Usagi appears and wants the Silver Crystal. That arrangement matters to a buying decision: reaching the end of one threat does not mean reaching a volume devoted entirely to closure. The next mystery has already made a claim on the story. This is a useful book for readers who want to see resolution generate another problem, but an awkward spine at which to demand complete rest.
