Which edition to buy

The Kodansha standard release has 12 main-story books and two separate Short Stories books. Eternal Edition and Naoko Takeuchi Collection each number the main series through 10; identical spine numbers across all three editions do not establish identical contents. Kodansha describes the Naoko Takeuchi Collection as using the Eternal Edition translation and high page count in a smaller format. Codename: Sailor V is a separate prequel. The Naoko Takeuchi Collection box marked 7–10 also contains both prequel books. These are publisher catalog records, not confirmation of current stock. Historical Tokyopop editions and exact chapter-level switches are not mapped here.

Compare the first numbered book in each edition below. A later box set is not a starting point for the story. List prices are publisher prices in US dollars, not current shop offers.

What each edition costs

Collected list prices are divided by the standard volumes each edition holds. The singles row shows the most common single-book list price; its total sums each book’s price. Retailer offers can differ.
