Mamoru’s illness keeps the Dead Moon Circus conflict personal in Sailor Moon’s ninth standard volume. This is the standard book, not the same-numbered Eternal Edition, which is a separate product in Kodansha’s extra-long format. Match the edition when filling a gap in an existing collection. The story belongs to the ongoing trouble around the circus, so a familiar character on the cover is no substitute for checking which sequence you own.

This is not the reason to buy the run if the main attraction is a decisive group confrontation. The publisher instead describes attacks on individual Guardians, with false visions used to tempt them and inner selves helping them answer. That gives the book a different job: separate tests of people who usually share a cause. Mamoru’s illness supplies a common concern, but it does not erase the individual encounters. Choose this continuation for those separate pressures. Buying it only for the promise of a collective showdown mistakes the work it does.
