Soul Eater 7 opens after the Kishin's resurrection, with Death Weapons summoned to the academy. Chapters 23–27 appear in the Yen Press digital contents. The inspected opening shifts from the preceding confrontation to a gathering for a counterstrategy, but reaches that meeting through scattered arrivals and conversations. This reading ends with Shinigami explaining why he has gathered them. Their assignments, the proposed strategy's execution and the book's later enrollments remain unread.

The summons brings four of eight Death Weapons, according to the initial conversation. The absence of the others keeps this from being an effortless display of united strength. Those present also arrive with different concerns: Marie wants to retire through marriage, Spirit fears that the meeting will remove him from his post, and Justin's headphones prevent him from hearing Shinigami. Their authority does not make them immediately attentive or secure. Once Justin is told to remove the headphones, Shinigami names the shared problem: Asura has returned, and a counterstrategy is needed. He also says finding a place to regain mental balance takes priority over rebuilding strength for Asura. That is the account offered at the meeting, not a guarantee that there is time to spare. The gathering begins by making its members able to hear the same task.
