The South Kai campaign leaves Hak operating in enemy territory without his usual support. This paperback continues his separation from the others, so it belongs beside the flood and mobilization material. Choose it for the practical limits on a strong fighter away from his own side. The immediate problem is how he can move through hostile territory; the encounter that compromises that effort stays behind the spoiler warning.
Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.
Hak disguises himself as a South Kai soldier, encounters General Rahn, whom he has fought before, and has his Kohka identity exposed. The useful contrast is between combat ability and the ability to remain unnoticed. A disguise offers access that strength cannot, but exposure removes that advantage without necessarily settling the conflict through force. This is an installment in the extended campaign, not a separate infiltration story. Hak's isolation matters because being identified leaves him in enemy territory without backup, where winning one encounter would not supply a supporting army.
