After Awa, Yona's party continues the search for the remaining Dragon. The eighth paperback also makes room for Su-won's visit to the Earth Tribe and a proposed festival. That change of focus is the reason to pick it up after the port-town campaign. It offers a pause from that operation, with attention divided between Yona's traveling companions and the public activities of the ruler she left behind.

Su-won asks General Geun-tae to hold a mock battle and festival at Chishin Palace. A staged contest is a useful counterpoint to the recent danger in Awa: the question becomes what a ruler can accomplish through an event arranged for spectators. VIZ leaves Su-won's purpose unresolved in its description, so the festival should not be sold as proof of a particular strategy. It does establish a book interested in political presentation alongside the Dragon search. This is connecting material, not the volume to choose for another Awa confrontation.
