Start the English collected manga with VIZ’s One-Punch Man, Vol. 1, credited to ONE for the story and Yusuke Murata for the art. For a paper copy, the identifier to match is ISBN-13 9781421585642; the digital volume has a different identifier.

Paperback or digital?

VIZ’s paperback listing and digital listing refer to volume 1 in different formats. The digital edition’s eISBN-13 is 9781421567495. The title and cover alone therefore do not settle which product a listing offers. Match the format and identifier together.

For a shelf copy or a physical gift, use the paperback record when comparing a seller’s details. For screen reading, use the digital record and check the selected store’s device and account requirements before buying. A digital listing is not evidence that a printed copy will be delivered, even when the volume number matches.

Which One-Punch Man is this?

VIZ’s creator biography identifies ONE’s original webcomic as the series’ beginning. The collected manga discussed here is identified by the ONE story and Murata art credits. This guide does not treat a webcomic chapter number as a shopping number for a VIZ book.

When a recommendation names only a chapter, first establish which version it means and then find a supported connection to the English collected edition. Buying by a familiar scene or an unqualified number risks answering a different question from the one the recommendation addressed. Starting with volume 1 avoids needing a continuation map.

Filling a gap in a collection

List the volume numbers already owned, keeping paper and digital holdings separate when the aim is to complete a physical shelf. Then open the missing volume in VIZ’s volume index and compare its product details with the intended purchase. The index supplies the volume record; it does not establish a particular retailer’s stock.

For example, if a hypothetical shelf contains volumes 1 and 3, the immediate gap is volume 2. Buying another copy of volume 1 in a different format would change the available reading format without filling that numbered gap. For a gift, a recipient’s existing volume list is more useful than the assumption that they need the next book after the largest number visible in a photograph.

Coming from the anime

The One-Punch Man watch-order guide handles the animated releases. An anime viewing position is a separate question from identifying a book: this buying guide does not certify an episode-to-volume handoff. Choose volume 1 for an unambiguous starting purchase, or establish the exact collected-volume continuation before ordering further ahead.

Use collected-book numbers for shelf gaps

The One-Punch Man catalog records the numbered English paperbacks by ONE and Yusuke Murata. Each row identifies a physical book by its ISBN and publisher date. A webcomic chapter number is not an identifier for one of those paperback products.

A shelf containing paperbacks 1, 2 and 4 has a gap at 3. A digital copy of Volume 3 may supply reading access, but it is a different purchase from the paperback. Record the format beside the number before ordering a replacement; the print and digital identifiers shown earlier distinguish those purchases.
