One-Punch Man: Sub or Dub?
One-Punch Man's English dub has kept its two leads across all three seasons. Here are the checked casts and a fair way to compare deadpan in two languages.
One-Punch Man is a comedy about a hero who is bored, so the sub-or-dub question comes down to deadpan: which language makes Saitama's flatness funny to you. Choose Japanese for Makoto Furukawa's Saitama; choose English for Max Mittelman's. ANN lists the same English leads for all three seasons, so whichever language you start with, the lead voices stay put.
Who plays whom?
ANN's encyclopedia credits Makoto Furukawa as Saitama and Kaito Ishikawa as Genos in Japanese, and Max Mittelman as Saitama and Zach Aguilar as Genos in English. ANN lists Viz Media among the licensors. ANN's season 1 entry lists both casts and Chris Cason as the first season's ADR director.
For season 2, ANN's entry keeps Mittelman and Aguilar in the leads and lists Christian La Monte as ADR director. The studio changed too: season 1 was animated by Madhouse and season 2 by J.C. Staff. Our watch order covers what that change did and did not alter.
Season 3
Season 3 began streaming on October 12, 2025, on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ in Canada, with J.C. Staff returning, per ANN, which also reports that the season's second part airs in 2027. ANN's season 3 entry lists Furukawa and Ishikawa again in Japanese, and an English cast with Mittelman and Aguilar in the leads and Lucien Dodge as ADR director. Those sources do not give a date for the English track, so check your service for which episodes it has.
A fair way to compare
Pick a fight where he wins in one punch and an ordinary scene, shopping or arguing with Genos, and play each in both tracks. Does the flat voice sound bored or merely quiet? Does Genos's earnestness make Saitama funnier, or crowd him?
Comedy is personal enough that a clip test beats any recommendation. When you are ready to go past the anime, the manga starts at the beginning.
