“Memories that people have are always fake. No point in believing in them.”

Standing alone in the transcript with no scene around it, the line sounds like a Knight of the Round being deadpan, which is how Anya plays everything. It is a plant. Five episodes later a flashback shows Marianne using her Geass to cross into the mind of a young Anya, newly arrived at court to be schooled in etiquette, who had seen Marianne wounded; Charles then explains that Anya and Nunnally were witnesses, so their memories were rewritten. The girl saying memories cannot be trusted is one of the two witnesses whose memories were rewritten, and the only one Marianne was hiding inside. The writers let her state the conclusion before the audience has the premise, so the reveal lands as confirmation rather than surprise. The first time through it is a mood. The second time it is a confession she does not know she is making.

“Memory? What memory? I remember nothing. I have no memory.”

Jeremiah's half of the exchange is the comic one. He self-destructs his Sutherland to damage the Mordred and shouts at her to commit his name to memory, turning her own "Memorize recording complete" back on her. The case for reading her reply as nothing more is decent: a flat battlefield dismissal from a Knight of Six who is never impressed by anything. Grant it, and the line still does more, because Jeremiah hears something else. His thought is a question, and the stage direction has him reveal his Geass Canceler. The one man on the field carrying a cure for Geass recognizes a symptom of it in four short sentences. Anya had stated the rule nine episodes earlier, that memories are always fake; this is the moment somebody finally treats her as the evidence.
