What changes here is not the rhetoric but its direction: every earlier line served his advancement, and this one exists to buy a collapsed Pikachu a few more seconds of cover. The thunder that answers is the show's entire thesis rendered as weather. Loyalty, the series argues from its first week onward, is earned by standing somewhere stupid on somebody else's behalf.
