“Well, with help like yours, who needs help? Besides, if you cared so much about me, why didn't you come and visit me in the facility, huh, Yusei?!”
2 quotes from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, each with commentary on what it means and why it stuck.
“Well, with help like yours, who needs help? Besides, if you cared so much about me, why didn't you come and visit me in the facility, huh, Yusei?!”
“Of course you can't, old friend! I could've handled the insults and the solitude, but they... they took my deck from me. That deck was my life!”
Crow has just explained that their attempted visits were refused. Kalin answers by distinguishing the loss of his deck from the insults and solitude he says he could endure. That hierarchy need not make his pain trivial: the cards are the part of his former life he can name as indispensable. Yet the reply also dodges Crow's correction. Explaining what captivity took from him does not establish that his friends chose to abandon him.
Crow answers with an account Kalin's accusation excludes: they tried to visit and were turned away. Access to the prisoner becomes control over what friendship looks like from inside confinement. Kalin treats absence as a decision his friends made; Crow describes a decision imposed on them. The exchange is strongest before either account becomes a complete excuse. A blocked visit would explain the empty chair without removing the experience of being left alone.
