“Yes, but you came here for senzu beans, not to stuff your face...”
2 quotes from Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball, each with commentary on what it means and why it stuck.
“Yes, but you came here for senzu beans, not to stuff your face...”
“Hmph, of course I did! You see, I know everything!”
Korin has just explained his backup plan: if Goku lost, he would collect the Dragon Balls and revive him along with Piccolo's other victims. That sounds like a reassuring account of why somebody had to remain behind. Goku then asks whether he knew about the Dragon Balls all along, and Korin expands his answer into a claim to know everything. The next piece of information is fatal to the plan as described. Goku tells him that Piccolo killed the Eternal Dragon, and the transcription marks Korin as shocked. The boast has not merely overstated a wise teacher's general awareness; it has concealed an essential missing fact in the explanation he is offering. Nothing here establishes that Korin knowingly lied. His error is more ordinary and less defensible as wisdom: he presented a contingency as settled before checking whether the means of carrying it out still existed.

Gohan wants to visit Videl in the hospital while Goku is away collecting Senzu Beans. At Korin's, the errand has become a meal. Goku acknowledges that people need him and explains that the food is better than what he gets at Grand Kai's. His appetite is not a misunderstanding about why he came. That makes the familiar joke less innocent than a picture of a cheerful man who simply loves eating. Someone else is waiting for the result of a task he remembers. Korin's reminder restores that person to a conversation dominated by Goku's immediate enjoyment. Goku's explanation accounts for the pleasure of staying without answering why the errand can wait. Korin is the person keeping the visit's purpose distinct from the guest's preferences.
