Snow White with the Red Hair Watch Order: Two Seasons and One OAD
Season 1, then season 2, one 24-episode story split in two; the OAD shipped with Japanese volume 15 and fits anywhere after season 1.
Watch season 1 (episodes 1 to 12), then season 2 (episodes 13 to 24). The two seasons are one 24-episode adaptation split across two broadcast slots, announced before the first episode aired. There is also one original anime DVD (OAD) episode, which never aired on television; watch it whenever you like after season 1.
Everything, in order
| Order | Entry | Length | Released in Japan |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Season 1 | 12 episodes | July 6 to September 21, 2015 |
| 2 | OAD (bundled with volume 15) | One episode, announced as 30 minutes | January 5, 2016 |
| 3 | Season 2 | 12 episodes (13 to 24) | January 11 to March 28, 2016 |
The two seasons
Studio Bones made the anime, directed by Masahiro Andō. At the first episode's preview event, the staff revealed that it would have two seasons, with the second planned for 2016. ANN's episode lists date season 1 from July 6 to September 21, 2015, ending with "Goodbye to the Beginning," and season 2 from January 11 to March 28, 2016, numbered 13 to 24 and ending with "A Tale, My Path." Funimation streamed both as they aired and later added an English dub.
The OAD
ANN's October 2015 report says the OAD, announced as 30 minutes, shipped with the limited edition of the manga's 15th Japanese volume on January 5, 2016, and "will not air as part of the ongoing television anime series." It adapts three pieces: the manga's 41st chapter, "where Shirayuki and Zen go on a date in the castle town"; a special chapter from volume 7 that follows Prince Raji as a child; and a special chapter from volume 11 that "chronicles how Zen, Mitsuhide, and Kiki first met." ANN's encyclopedia entry, titled Nandemonai Takaramono, Kono Page, links it to season 1 as a side story and lists a running time of 24 minutes. A 2023 ANN article says the OAD bundled with the fifth volume, but the 2015 report was updated with the January 5 ship date, and ANN had reported volume 14 shipping in July 2015, so volume 15 is the one that fits. It came out six days before season 2 began, so release order puts it between the seasons. Because it is a side story rather than part of the broadcast run, watching it after season 2 instead is our suggestion if you would rather not break up the main story.
