Demon Slayer Watch Order

Follow the named arcs from the original series to Infinity Castle. How Mugen Train’s film and TV versions differ, and where theatrical screening events fit.

Last updated September 14, 2026

Start Demon Slayer with the Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc, then continue through Mugen Train, Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village and Hashira Training before Infinity Castle. The main choice is how to watch Mugen Train: its film and television versions cover the same central story, but the TV version includes additional material.

The main viewing route

  1. Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc: the original 26-episode television series.
  2. Mugen Train: the feature film or the seven-episode television arc.
  3. Entertainment District Arc: 11 episodes.
  4. Swordsmith Village Arc: 11 episodes.
  5. Hashira Training Arc: eight episodes.
  6. Infinity Castle: begin with the first film in the announced trilogy.

The official Infinity Castle introduction records this progression through the earlier arcs. The arc names are useful identifiers when checking a release: each names a particular stretch of the story, while a bare season number supplies less information.

The official episode indexes enumerate 26 original-series episodes, 11 Entertainment District episodes, 11 Swordsmith Village episodes and eight Hashira Training episodes. Those indexes contain plot summaries, so use the titles and totals without reading ahead if you want to avoid spoilers.

What the Mugen Train television version adds

The official production introduction describes seven television episodes. Episode one is wholly new: it follows Rengoku on a mission while traveling toward the train. Episodes two through seven present the train mission with additional animation cuts, background music and other newly produced material.

That makes the choice more useful than a rule forbidding anyone from watching both. Choose the film for a feature-length presentation, or the TV arc for an episode-based route that includes the new opening. Our first-watch recommendation is to finish one presentation before continuing to Entertainment District, rather than alternating between film scenes and television episodes.

If you already saw the film, the television opening offers something you have not seen in that version. Watching it is an option, and comparing the remaining episodes is another. Neither requires pretending that the two releases are identical. If you prefer to move forward after the film, continue with Entertainment District; repeating the entire train story is not a prerequisite for the next arc.

Screening events are not entire additional seasons

The theatrical title To the Hashira Training can look like another installment to insert between the television arcs. Sony Pictures' description identifies its contents as Swordsmith Village episode 11 followed by Hashira Training episode one, presented ahead of that episode's television run.

If you watch both complete television arcs, those episodes are already part of your route. The event is another way of encountering them, not a separate season that has gone missing. At its original screening, however, the next arc's opening was new to audiences. Calling every compilation “nothing new” loses that distinction between previously broadcast material and a premiere.

Where Infinity Castle belongs

Infinity Castle continues after Hashira Training. Its official introduction identifies the film as the first installment of a trilogy; it is not a compilation of the earlier television arcs. Finish Hashira Training before beginning it, and save its synopsis until then, because the setup discloses what happens at that transition.

For a first viewing, our recommendation is to keep the full arc sequence above. A selection of a film and a few opening or closing episodes would summarize fragments of the journey while omitting the intervening story. Knowing which release follows another is different from having watched the developments that connect them.

Other guides address different film questions: Jujutsu Kaisen and Fate. For Demon Slayer, follow the named arcs and make the Mugen Train format choice according to how you want to watch.
