Goodnight Punpun is complete in English in seven VIZ paperbacks, and VIZ lists no other English print edition. Buy Vols. 1 to 7 in order. The original Japanese edition from Shogakukan ran to 13 volumes, so English and Japanese volume numbers refer to different books.

The set comes to $166.93 at list. VIZ gives a 5¾ × 8¼ inch trim, larger than a standard manga paperback, and publishes the series under its VIZ Signature imprint. VIZ’s series listing marks Vol. 7 “Final Volume!”, and its product copy reads, in full, “This is the end, Punpun.” It is shorter than the others; that is the ending, not a missing part.
Seven English books, thirteen Japanese
Shogakukan’s page for Japanese Vol. 13, published December 27, 2013, calls it the final volume (最終巻) and says the story is finally complete (ついに完結). VIZ’s first six books run 432 to 456 pages each, so the full story fits in seven. Neither publisher states which Japanese volumes each English book contains, and this guide does not work it out by arithmetic, so do not compare a Japanese volume number with an English one. Before you buy
VIZ rates every volume Mature. Its Vol. 1 copy sets the tone with a list of what Punpun wants (“to win a Nobel Prize and save the world,” the girl he likes to like him back, and “to find some porn”) and ends: “That’s what he wants, but what does he get…?” Our catalog’s description: Inio Asano follows Punpun “through childhood and adolescence as his family breaks apart.” Try Vol. 1 before committing to $166.93.
